Do You Want to Become a Certified Public Accountant? Find Out How!

Do You Want to Become a Certified Public Accountant? Find Out How!

Becoming a Certified Public Accountant is by no means easy.

Looking for a new job can be tough. This task becomes even more daunting when you consider changing fields. A sluggish economy coupled with societal upheaval can make your job search seem unfeasible. That said, many careers in various disciplines are still rewarding. By pursuing them, you can accrue a satisfying income while gaining professional experience. Becoming a Certified Public Accountant is by no means easy. Even so, the respect and credibility that comes with passing your certification exams will help your new endeavor pay off!

Complete a Relevant Degree Program

The first step on your journey to becoming a CPA is to complete a relevant degree program. You can do this by choosing an undergraduate degree program that will enable you to graduate with distinction. As you begin to research which universities and online courses to enroll in, note that every state is its own entity. That way, you’ll be prepared to take the CPA exam. Your bachelor’s degree will open doors for you that give you the best chance to succeed. If you’ve always wanted to enter the world of business and finance, be sure to join accounting or business programs that will set you up with the proper coursework.

Sign Up to Take the CPA Exam

Once you have finished your required 120-hour degree program, give yourself some well-earned kudos! After that, though, you’ll need to determine if your state asks you to complete 150 semester hours to sign up for the exam. That’s not the only challenge you’ll have to face, though. You might need to spend that vast amount of time to receive your accountant’s license. Moreover, your state board of accountancy must confirm your credentials.

Find a Helpful Review Course

Brush on your study skills! Once you’ve cleared those hurdles, set yourself a firm deadline. By doing this, you will give yourself some extra motivation.  Take your time finding the prep course that suits you. After all, if you’ve done it right, you can pass all four sections of the exam in one attempt. Consider your learning style, study habits, and acceptable budget. Stay tuned because there is even more advice for you to digest!
